In winter the high-altitude valley benefits from its elevation and enjoys guaranteed snow. Apart from being able to ski up to an altitude of 3600 m above sea-level, visitors also benefit from a wide variety of shops and entertainment. Whether you want to indulge in a little après-ski or enjoy a gentle stroll, whether you want to join in a game of curling or a night-time sledding run, there is every kind of entertainment in the Saas Valley!
Skiing and Snowboarding
The winter snow sports area in the Saas Valley with its more than 140 km of groomed pistes has something special for everyone: wide, smooth pistes for carvers, moguls pistes for experts, flat pistes for beginners. In winter more than 100 hectares of groomed, varied pistes and more than 35km of long runs await you.
The ski area stretches from 1560m above sea-level in Saas-Grund to 3100m at Hohsaas.
Saas-Grund has an attractive and varied range of snow sports activities for its visitors to enjoy.
35 km of ski-pistes, lovely winter hiking paths, a natural and an artificial skating rink and an 11 km-long sledging trail. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can ski a total of 26 km of cross-country trails here either in the direction of Saas-Balen or Saas-Almagell. The sunny Kreuzboden-Hohsaas ski area with guaranteed snow and easy wide pistes for beginners as well as challenging glacier pistes for good skiers affords a unique view of the 18 four-thousand-metre peaks of the Saas Valley, the highest mountains in Switzerland.
The great advantage of the Saas Valley's snow sports area is that it has guaranteed snow. Because of its high altitude with pistes up to 3600 m above sea-level and the ski area on the glacier, we have guaranteed skiing and snowboarding all year round. All pistes which are not on the glacier have snow-making with 80 snow-cannons. The runs back down to the resorts can be maintained without the use of chemicals until the end of the season.
